Sunday Nov 1st

Wow wonder where the month of October went too.  We all do not have much time to get ready for Thanksgiving.  I am going to start my list of things I need from the store now and each time we go to the store just get a little off that list so it does not seem so over whelming when we have to get all the goodies for dinner. Specially the cranberry sauce they always seem to be empty of that by the time I can go and do my shopping.
 I have several pies i am going to make. Pumpkin, chocolate family fav. , apple for my uncle, and found a recipe for a pecan and pumpkin pie just might have to try that one out.

And do some snack things for during the day and a light breakfast.

Today not to much is going on. Melissa is still at her friends house she will be home later today, kelsey is hiding out in her room watching movies, And I am on the computer as always lol.
Did the dishes earlier, vacumed, and just picked up. Still need to go pick up the room a bit but will do that later.  Thinking of doing some more sewing today just not sure what i am going to do as of yet.
  Might try my hand at the pillowcase again.  I had trouble with it last night. You would think that is easy to do and it was, just could not get my Brain  to do what i needed it to do lol.
 But it all wrked out in the end.

Halloweeen Sewing Retreat

I am doing an online Halloween sewing retreat with some friends offline.
  I am getting a late start sense I stayed up Way to late last night.  So are today I decorated a blue Jean bag that i got from wal-mart last year and just wanted to spruce it up.  I will get a pic of it here in a sec and post it. The pic came out blury have another one to post but need to run Melissa up the street to a sleep over.

 Then its off to eat some lunch/brunch then back to the sewing machine.  Not sure what the next one would be might start on a pillowcase.  will keep posting threw out the day.
Okay its about 5:15 and i feel I have not got much accomplished, after I dropped of Melissa for her sleep over I ate some lunch.  OH and came home with a new puppy lol.  Brittany;s mom and I got to talking about dogs and how i was looking for a female dog for me sense i lost mine last year.  She told me she had a long haired chihuahua she needed to find a home for she just had to many dogs.  I took one look at her and new i had to bring her home.  She looked so much like the dog i had when a was a little girl. But Nicki was a different breed than what  Sadie is.
 she is in the room right now with Kelsey hanging out. And the neighbors dog is here hanging out as well, Its Kelseys boyfriends family dog so the dogs and ryan are here all the time.  Just Ryan is not here right now lol
 I am trying to make a pillow case got it sewn down the first time and it did not look right. So took to the bed to see way, it was way to long for some reason. Do not have enough material to make the cuff for the right way. So just going to sew it back up and cut off some of the bottom.  Its long enough for a body pillow lol
 As soon as I get it done will post pics.

Okay here is the pic of the pillowcase I made. That is my dd Kelsey holding it up she would not let me show her face lol.
 I had to redo it twice and still think i have to redo the side seam. But just to tired to deal with it right now.
  I am doing a french seam for the first time, and just missed some of the inside seam and its showing.
 But all and all it turned out great.  Have one cut out for tomorrow too. Going to go and watch some tv.

busy day today

Well today was really busy. Cleaned the house all up, did laundry as well. Made my first ever Blueberry pie. Its on the table now and need to get a pic of it to post. I was hoping to have some blueberries left to make some mini pies as well. Oh well, I can do it another time. Had to take a trip into town to take dh his power cord for his lap top he needed it at wrk. And then to wal-mart to get some bird food for the cockatiels they were out of food. While i was there i bought up the rest of some material i got the other day and thought it might make a great backing to a quilt top i have and need to get done sometime soon, have only had it done for about 8 yrs now lol actually think longer than that. Got some halloween placemats done last week for the table. Not that we really sit at the table to eat. Most of the time we are not all at home together to eat dinner. going to see if i can upload pics here, have not added pics here yet. Tomorrow my plans are to get a pillow case done, start a charity quilt, and just work on some mineless sewing as well. Get some christmas gifts going as well. I also have an emboidery machine i need to start learning as well.

been awhile

been awhile sense i have last posted. Been really busy here at home. We got 2 calves last week and only 1 made it. They are bottle fed calves that we got from an individual that we found out after the calve died that this person sold us some sick cows. Now we know why he was in such a hurry to get his check cashed. I think hubby is going to report him to the spca. Last Thursday Hubby broke his pinky finget playing catch football with the neighborhood kids. When he caught the ball it bent it back and at first we thought it was just dislocated so he popped it back into place. Well, later on and a trip the to ER found out he fractured it. Hairline fracture. And it goes up and down but sideways not straight across. So for now he is having to wear a finger splint. I had to take him back on sunday because the meds they gave him were not wrking and come to find out the dr on the 1st trip did not give him the right ones. Wrk is going fine and really busy, we have a few changes going on a wrk but for the best. Its really going to help my dept have less wrk to do. For now it seems we are doing the other dept wrk when they can be doing thier own. So that will be really nice. Was raining here off and on for the past week or so, So now the farm area in the back of the house is all one big mud puddle lol. Now that the rain is behind us for now, and hopefully the sun will come out and help dry this all up. We are in the process of getting ready to start board a neighbors house. She litterly lives right behind us. I have not have had the chance to meet her yet, i was at wrk the other day when she came by. I have been wrking on some placemats for halloween as soon as i get them done i will post a pic. Just something for the table. And have some cute fall material i may some mats from as well. The Girls and Hubby are at our Texas State Fair right now. Been there most of the day. Not sure if they are on thier way home or not have not heard from them all day. Well called hubby at 1pm when i had my break at wrk but not sense then. Might have to go out and feed the animals myself. well, off to do some sewing before i have to go and feed. And give them a call and see where they are.

computer is back and running

Well, i have been off the computer for about a week or so. Ours crashed and took it to a friend to get it fixed. She told me its the worse computer she had ever seen infected with worms, trojens ect. But we are up and running finally. Sure have missed it. But did loose alot of my sites and blogs that I was following. So today off and on i have been trying to locate them. Most of them are from members of my Yahoo Group Stashbusters. so will get them back here and there. And in the meantime i have found some other sites that were interesting. well, off to go and watch some tv with a cup of hot tea. Animals are fed outside before it started to rain again. I will try and post more tomorrow.

Been crazy here on the farm

Well its Friday and things have been crazy around here.  We got a call yesterday about finding homes for 2 horses that needed to find new homes for.  The owner was moving out of the country and could not take them with her.  They were also in a barn fire so had some trust issues to deal with.  A lady right up the road from us and a friend of hers went in together to get them. WE were sooo pleased.
 And Dawn the other person that does rescues was also able to place 4 more horses in loving homes, from other owners.

I also have a horse that i just got here at the farm that we are wrking with. He has major trust issues and he is not able to be caught. In other wrds you have to chace him down if you want to wrk with him, he will not come to you. But for the 4 days he has been here he had been doing really well.  We are able to walk up to him a little more even though he may walk away from you just not as fast as he did when we first got him here.  I just basically ignore home when i am out doing chores and he comes to me on his own.  He loves carrots we found out, and animal crackers like the rest of the horses.  I have been putting him on a line lead every chance i get.  And starting to wrk on desensitzing him with my hands. I think he has been trained in what i do not know, and i think it was done in mean spirits not loving hands.  So that is the reason for desenstizing him, So he starts to learn i am not going to hurt him.  I will post what we are doing as he comes along

My Morning so far

HI just thought i would start out what I have done so far this morning.
I got up about 5:30 this morning and that is late for me. Normal wrk day starts at 2am. I wanted to make sure the girls were up and ready for school. This is my time to see them before they go off to school sense i am not home during the week. My day off is Friday threw sunday. Melissa was up and dressed and ready to go. Kelsey was still in bed, she does not have to go till later.
Hubby woke up for a bit not to sure why but he put in some cloths i guess he needed for this morning and made breakfast once that was done he went back to bed. lol
Once he left for wrk I cleaned the kitchen, started dishwasher, and washed some fabrics for a pillow and nap quilt i am making for the little girl who lives next door. Its her 5th birthday. So going to get that started here in a bit and will try and remember to post pics.
House is quiet, my wrk is done for now anyway and its lunch time.
so going to go and eat some lunch, then iron my fabs to get ready to sew.

Well finished the Tinker Bell Pillow but was in such a rush to get it next door that i forgot to take a pic of it. I can get it taken later on.
I still want to make her a pillow case for her room and found a great video on how to make this pillow case they call a sausage roll. You are basically sewing the cuff and ribbon as i call it all at once and no seams. As soon as i can figure out how to load it up from You Tube i will post it.

Finished the Quilt Blocks

Well I finally finished the Quilt blocks for my online swap.  I need to go and get some pics of them so i can post them on the site.  I finished them up today all 12 of them. 

We are getting ready to start another block theme and this one is Fall Leaves. I have a great pattern we can used but I am not able to find it at this minute.  I just seen it not to long ago but my room is still not unpacked, and the things that are, well they just get moved around. 

We have a new addition to the Farm His name is Casper well for now till I think of a new name for him. 
 He is a white Arabian horse that was from a rescue in another county.  He was part of a neglect situation.  This person had other horses do not remember how many right now that were not being taken care of at all. In fact some were so skinny they were starving, and some well lets just say did not make it on his property.  They were all siezed by the SPCA.  We were asked if we could take casper in and teach him to trust again and we agreed.  I have had him about 5 days now and he has come along way.  You still cannot go right up to him and put your hands near his face or even touch him.  But when you are able to get him and get the line lead on him and lead him around and gently talk to him, you then can slowly put your hand on his face to give him a nice pat, and on his sides.  He will come to you on his terms. When i go out to the pasture to check on the other horses and animals i just ignore him and let him come to me. So far its wrking.
  I put him on the lead today and walked him around the property, and did some figure 8's with him, did great with that.

I only wrk with him in short sessions threw out the day.  Once i was done with that i came in the house and cooled off, cleaned up the house just a bit and finished my quilt blocks. well off to get dinner done and get some pics of the quilt blocks and upload some pics to share

Sunday 3oth

well i got up about 9:30 this morning and that is unusual for me, Normally i roll out of bed about noon.  During the week i am up at 2am everymorning and do not get to bed till about 8 or so at night.  I try and take one day out of the weekend for me to just sleep in.  Went out and checked on the animals this morning, let the chickens out to roam the grounds, did let the goats out but caught them all across the street to put them back up. Gave the ducks some fresh water in thier makeshift pond and they loved it. I need to get more batteries for my camera or just get one where the batteries do not drain so fast.  The kids are gone again today. Kelsey is at a birthday party and Melissa is still at her sleepover.  Richard went into town to talk to someone about another job he my be interested in.  So I opened up all the windows thise morning. We FINALLY have a nice breeze here in texas and its not to hot so far.  Nice to have the windows open for a change. 

 I am wrking on my quilt blocks still. Hope to have them done tonight.  Then off to my next projects.

Great quilting day

well, i spent most of the day off and on doing some cutting and ironing for my qlt blocks.  Have the main blocks cut out. They are 12/1/2", cut all 12 of my Teapots cut out as well. Then realized i still needed to do the teacups. But going to check to see if we need the teacups, if so i will do 6 of them and only do 6 of the Pots. 

Tomorrow if i have time I will get the cups cut out and then start sewing them to the foundation  blocks if i have time. Sundays are my early days to go to bed. I get up at 2am during the week to get ready for wrk. I have to be at wrk at 4am.  Only Monday threw Thursday.  But when i get home i still have wrk to do here at the house and feed the animals.  Well, going to cut it short tonight have to get to bed i am tired. 12:16am here in tx.

Friday 28th

 Well the family survived the first week of school.  So far Kelsey and Melissa like thier teachers and classes. 
Melissa has a friend over from school tonight who just lives up the road, they seem to be having fun.  They have been outside most of the time playing with the kids next door.  They were all just outside playing volleyball they are now in the house eating some pizza.

Hard to believe Kelsey will start driving this year they offer it at her High School or we can teach her ourselves not sure yet what way we will be going.  She has made a few friends so far and she is dating a nice young man by the name of Ryan Maxson.  He is on the High School football team. And lives 2 houses down.  The family is really nice, on the weekends here where i live all the families are pretty much outside handing out. 

Richard and I went to Wal-Mart to get  few school supplies we knew we still needed to get only to get more added to it today when Kelsey got home from school. She has sooo many binders and notebooks she has to carry around this year that I am not sure how she is going to do it lol.

I cleaned the house today because I have intentions on doing some sewing tomorrow while the girls are sleeping or playing outside depending on what comes first.  I am in a block swap with some friends on the internet we are doing blocks that have teapots and saucers.  Hard part is, is that the background block needs to be yellow and the teapots and saucers need to be floral.  I am trying to use what I have but do not have much as far as floral goes so got 1/2 a yard at wal-mart.  Need to get the fabric washed tonight and get it ready for tomorrow to be cut out.

I am off to watch some tv before hubby gets home from wrk.
